The mill town of Langholm is split into two by the River
Esk, with the older part of town being on the east bank
and New Langholm on the west. The Wauchope river also meets
the Esk at Langholm so the geography of the town is unusual.
The Boatford Suspension Bridge (1871) crosses the Esk from
the Church to New Langholm.
