Burns stayed here when he first moved
to Dumfries, and it was one of his favourite drinking haunts.
The lane to the pub entrance from the High Street is untouched
but very narrow. The bar and restaurant area are open and
busy – upstairs rooms open by special request.
The atmospheric 17th century working
pub retains many original features, including the poet’s
chair.
The room at the Globe Inn where Burns slept and where he
was inspired to write: "Yestereen I had a pint of wine".
The room retains all of its 18th century character.
