The main industries in the region are live-stock farming:
dairying, cattle and sheep; fishing and forestry. The farming
land is green and fertile, with fields bordered by dry stone
walls or hedgerows. The region is one of the most heavily
forested in Scotland, with a variety of different woodlands,
from conifer forests to broadleaved woods.
