Splendid remains of a late 13th and early 14th century Cistercian
abbey in red sandstone, in the village of New Abbey. Substantial
parts still stand such as the nave, the choir, bell tower
and stonework of the great east window.
Now managed by
Historic Scotland. Other Abbeys in the region include
