This page is for people who are interested in working in the film and television industry, or who want to learn new skills.

Most of these courses will be run in Glasgow or Edinburgh but if there is enough demand, we can begin to run courses in Dumfries and Galloway.

  • Skillset Careers
    If you’re just starting out, and need careers advice about work in film and television, the best website is www.skillset.org/careers. They also run a free helpline that is specifically geared to students, school children and school leavers: 0808 100 8094, open 8am to 8pm.

    The Skillset Career Handbook is available for reference at the Screen Commission office.

  • FT2
    The national provider of apprentice-style training for the film and TV industry. A number of courses and industry placements available in London (trainees are given financial assistance) www.ft2.org.uk.

  • Scottish Screen
    Run a New Entrants scheme for people wanting to enter the industry, as well as running regular Skills for Screen workshops, designed for industry professionals to brush up their skills: www.scottishscreen.com.
